A Mechanical Engineering program is a 4-year undergraduate degree that equips students with the knowledge and skills to design, analyze, and maintain mechanical systems. It covers various topics, including mechanics, thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, and machine design. The curriculum also includes practical labs, hands-on projects, and industry internships.
Learning Outcomes:
- Fundamentals of Mechanical Engineering: Master core concepts of mechanics, thermodynamics, fluid dynamics, materials science, and manufacturing processes.
- System Modeling and Analysis: Develop and analyze models for mechanical systems, including static and dynamic systems, thermal systems, and fluid systems.
- Design and Innovation: Use engineering design processes to develop innovative mechanical components or systems that meet real-world constraints (cost, time, safety, sustainability).
- Simulation and Prototyping: Employ tools like Solid Works, CATIA, ANSYS, and MATLAB to design, simulate, and prototype mechanical systems.
- Instrumentation and Control: Understand sensors, actuators, and control strategies used in mechatronics and automation.
- Engineer and Society: Apply contextual knowledge to assess societal, health, safety, legal, and cultural issues relevant to mechanical engineering.
- Environment and Sustainability: To understand the impact of engineering solutions in societal and environmental contexts and demonstrate knowledge of sustainable development.
- Ethics: Apply ethical principles and commit to professional ethics and responsibilities.
- Individual and Team Work: Function effectively as an individual, member, or leader in multidisciplinary teams.
